Omeka S Software overview
- General information and reference: Omeka S User Manual
- We will be using Omeka S's Resource Template option for two purposes:
- To implement our application profile within the software
- When indexing each image
Project steps

- Developing application profile part 2: What are the details of your assigned property, including its indexing steps?
- This information is recorded in our Element List
- Transferring your approved property details from our Project Wiki to our Omeka S instance by way of their "Resource Template" software functionality
- All students will need to establish their property within our project's Resource Template
- The name of our Resource Template is Metadata Course 2019
- NOTE: The Title and Description properties are already there
- Steps for adding your Property to the Template:
- Click on the “Resource Templates” in the left menu under the label of “RESOURCES”
- Click on the template with the label “Metadata Course 2019”
- Click on “Edit resource template” at the upper right corner
- Find your property in the right side menu and add it to the template
- Additional information about how to customize your property in our Omeka S instance based on your property's Wiki information that you developed:

- All students will need to establish their property within our project's Resource Template
- Adding dropdown box functionality to your property (if needed) ... TWO STEPS:
- STEP 1: Create A New Custom Vocab for your property
- Click on the “Custom Vocab” in the left menu under the label of “MODULES”
- Click on “Add new vocab” at the top right corner
- Type in a title for your custom vocab in the field for “Label”
- Type in the terms you want to use for the custom vocab separated by new lines in the field for “Terms”
- Click “Submit” at the top right corner
- STEP 2: Use A Custom Vocab as the Data Type of a Property
- Click on the “Resource Templates” in the left menu under the label of “RESOURCES”
- Click on the template with the label “Metadata Course 2019
- Click on “Edit resource template” at the upper right corner
- Click on the icon of small pencil to edit your property
- In the right side menu, find “Data type”, click on the small arrow, and then find your newly added custom vocab in the drop down menu
- Click on “Set changes” at the bottom, and then click on “Save” at the upper right corner.
- STEP 1: Create A New Custom Vocab for your property
- Indexing your images (unfortunately, this can only be done after all properties are set up)
- Go to your item set
- Click on “View items” at the top right corner
- Click on one of the images
- Click on “Edit item” at the top right corner
- In the drop down menu for “Resource template”, select “Metadata Course 2019”
- You can start to index the image according to the template
